Speaking of amazing, we have compiled five of the most amazing facts about dogs. You’ll want to check these out – trust us:
- Puppies are born almost completely helpless. They are all born without teeth, the sense of hearing or sight. The first sense a puppy will obtain is that of ‘touch’. Whether this is due to rolling their cute selves over by their mothers, or by humans picking them up and loving on them – puppies quickly learn that it’s a good thing to receive pets and cuddles.
- There are eighteen muscles in a dog’s ear that moves each back and forth, and side to side. The ears of a dog are not only a system for determining sounds, but also for communicating with other animals as well. Dog’s ears can communicate a mood, feeling or need.
- A dog’s nose has a unique print, just like that of a human’s finger pads. A dog can actually be identified by its nose print. Dogs that operate with the Police Force are often printed, so their noses are on file. Who knows if it will be the case that all dogs will need to be nose-printed in the future. Let’s just say, don’t think of robbing any banks, Fido!
- Through many scientific studies, border collies and poodles have been noted as the most intelligent dog breeds. Studies involved tasks that involved memory, human communication and understanding, as well as problem-solving skills. The intelligence of the border collie is why most farmers and herders have used this breed to tend to their animals, for years. Do you know a super smart poodle or border collie?
- Labradors are the most popular breed of dog in the United States, against approximately 160 other breeds. Labs are seen as one of the top three ‘family breeds’, and are most commonly featured in movies and television shoes for families and children. Labs are also said to have a higher instinct to protect their owners, than other breeds.
